Uses of an Ozone Generator
Ozone generator used in commercial and residential areas. They are often times used to control or remove odor in commercial offices and factories as well as reducing airborne mold in home basements. These generators are also used by fire clean-up crews to recover smoke-damaged items and by some mold remediation experts in the course of reconstructions.
Although they can be used for many different applications, they should also be used carefully only as they can cause respiratory problems, especially to people who already have respiratory problems, elders and children. In some cases, they have also been used in the medical field to treat some cancer patients. However, precaution is advised for use of any ozone purifier as they can be harmful the health. Using one should always be in compliance with the levels allowed by the EPA and OSHA.
In accordance with the EPAs air quality standards, the average outdoor concentration of ozone produced at the 8-hour maximum should not be over 0.08 part per million. They should not be used around people; however, if there will be people present, EPA suggests that the ozone level should be much less than the maximum ppm of 0.08. In cases where they are used for treatment in medical devices, there should not be more than 0.05 ppm in that outdoor area. As for the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, a limit of 0.10 ppm should never be surpassed at any time. In areas where ozone is produced, people with breathing and asthma problems should not be exposed; even as little as 0.05 ppm could greatly affect them already and make their lung problems worsen.
